Hello: Top New Shows of 2017 Driving Music Discovery

While we had to say goodbye to some of our favorite music-centric tv shows this year, a lot of new shows are helping fill the void. Below we recap the most popular new shows in 2017 that have the highest activity and fan engagement on Tunefind. These new shows are the ones that sent fans scrambling to identify the songs and artists featured. All of these shows feature not only great storytelling, but those stories are enhanced and improved by stellar music selection.

Music Supervisor: Morgan Rhodes

Music Supervisor: Maggie Phillips

Legion marks the second partnership between Maggie Phillips, showrunner Noah Hawley and composer Jeff Russo (the first: Fargo) and they built a richly trippy sonic world to bring us inside David’s mind. A dark comedy about an autistic teen coming of age, Atypical’s main character often wears noise canceling headphones to block out loud sounds and music. Thankfully, viewers get to enjoy a soundtrack that runs the gamut from Alt-J to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

The new Netflix series Mindhunter used music to bring us back to the late 70’s, and to help us step into the minds of serial killers and the FBI agents hunting them down. This addictive show inspired a lot of viewers to discover the 70’s hits and deep tracks from some key artists of the time that are featured throughout the show.
