Ballers is known for its’ strong end credits game, courtesy of music supervisor Scott Vener (Entourage, How to Make It in America). The show frequently shows up on Tunefind’s Trending music chart and here in our top TV song posts, often highlighting new and emerging artists.

‘You Were Right’ was released on June 26, 2015,  the lead single from RÜFÜS DU SOL’s sophomore studio album, Bloom (2016). The song was RÜFÜS DU SOL’s first top 40 single landing at #22 on the ARIA Chart (Australian Recording Industry Association) and the album was their second #1 album, following their debut Atlas (2013). ‘You Were Right’ won the ARIA Award for Best Dance Release in 2015 and in 2017 the song became a 2x platinum certified hit in Australia.

AAA Backstage describes the song as a “hypnotizing beat with slightly faded melodies, accompanied by catchy and rhythmic claps and synths, not to mention warm vocals, which unconditionally stuck in your head.”

In Daily Review, reviewing the album Bloom, the track was the highlight: “‘You Were Right’ is a brilliant dance-floor filler and easily the best song on the album. It mixes the light grooves of sunny Sydney summers with the throbbing house build-ups of a chilly winter safe haven of a German club.”

RÜFÜS DU SOL, formerly known as RÜFÜS from 2010-2018, added DU SOL due to trademarking issues. According to Office Magazine, group members Tyrone Lindqvist (vocals/guitar), Jon George (keyboards) and James Hunt (drums), who joined together in November 2010, aren’t entirely sure of why they chose the name RÜFÜS. Jon George said, “We were just trying to come up with something that sounded familiar, yet foreign. Like a little earworm in our head, the name Rufus stuck with us, feeling like we had heard it before. With the two umlauts above it, it felt foreign.”

Tyrone Lindqvist added, “We liked that it was very anonymous, and even in our headshots, we would have out faces very shadowy. It seemed like we were some sort of Scandinavian electronic outlet, but really, we’re just three dudes from Sydney—it was just kind of playful.”

The release of ‘You Were Right’ and other iconic hits from Bloom sent the group off on a two-year tour, including an appearance at Coachella. The touring streak has continued for the last few years with sold out shows, global tours and more trips to the Coachella stages. One of Billboard’s top 10 dance albums of the year 2018, Solace peaked at #6 and now their new remix album, Solace Remixed has been released to wild fan reception.

Coming up, the Aussie group is expected to appear at the Laneway Festival 2020. St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival has expanded to five cities in Australia, Auckland, New Zealand and Singapore since 2005. RÜFÜS DU SOL joins a line-up of The 1975, Charli XCX and more.
