The Locke's find Erin in the maze; End sequence.

Near the end of the episode, the ominous beat of ‘Will It Ever Be the Same’ begins in the snowy maze. The Lockes find Erin as the vocals pierce through the scene. The song continues through the end sequence as Kinsey calls Lucas to share some news.

Locke & Key is co-music supervised by Frank Palazzolo and Liza Richardson. Palazzolo shared with Tunefind how this was a great placement to work on because the song use was nice and long, accompanying a scene that was super heavy. But no spoilers here!

“The goal was to find something with an emotional build that helps us feel the pain of loss, but then ends with a little aggression, as we’re now expecting some revenge,” explained Palazzolo.

“The moment we heard this song we knew it was going to give people goosebumps and judging by the reaction and comments on social media, it appears Young Summer achieved just that,” said Palazzolo. “‘Will It Ever Be The Same’ is a perfect example of the sound of this season and we couldn’t be more thrilled about the love it’s getting!”

‘Will It Ever Be the Same’ was released as a single in December 2019. The artist Young Summer has released numerous singles since 2013, along with two EPS, Fever Dream (2013) and You Would Have Loved it Here (2016), and one full-length album called Siren released in 2014.

Young Summer is an American singer and songwriter from Washington, D.C., currently living in Nashville. The indie-pop artist was born Barbara “Bobbie” Allen and is currently working on a new album. She has gained attention for her sincere songwriting and textured voice. She cites David Bowie, Carole King, and Prince as some of her musical influences. When Bobbie Allen isn’t on tour or releasing her own music as Young Summer, she writes for other artists. Allen co-wrote ‘Goodbye,’ the lead single on Echosmith’s second studio album called Inside a Dream.

Young Summer has had notable placements such as her cover version of Franz Ferdinand’s ‘Take Me Out’ which was featured in Hulu series Looking For Alaska in 2019. She has had many songs placed in Freeform’s Pretty Little Liars, ABC’s Revenge, and a variety of other shows.
