Fan Favorites: Most Popular Songs from Euphoria, season 2

Looking for the songs featured in season 1 of Euphoria? Tunefind has complete official song lists for each episode.

One of the buzziest shows for music discovery, HBOMax’s Euphoria has everyone talking. The season 2 premiere saw nineteen million viewers tune in and climbed the list of HBOMax’s most-watched shows in the network’s history, landing in second place behind the 2019 record held by Game of Thrones.

From the beginning, Euphoria set out to highlight lesser-known artists and expose viewers to different genres of music. The music team set a goal to not repeat themselves in season 2, but continue to feature amazing music.

Music supervisor Jen Malone (Atlanta, Yellowjackets, Zola) and composer Labrinth are the people to thank for all those great tunes. This season, Malone dove in deeper to the musical ethos of the Euphoria. The season 2 episodes featured the most popular songs on Tunefind for seven different weeks, including classics and covers like ‘Amore Mio Aituami (Version No. 2)’ by Piero Piccioni (Tunefind Top TV Song from March 1st) and ‘Fever’ by Sharon Cash (Tunefind Top TV Song from February 15th). Once again the music-heavy series featured more than 100 licensed songs over the 8-episode season.

Malone told Variety that she gets excited about introducing a younger generation to some of her personal favorite ’90s hip-hop and ’80s alt-rock on Euphoria, “When a music supervisor gets to work on a show or an episode with their absolute favorite music that the director and showrunner want to have, it’s just so fun.”

Euphoria has dominated the last two monthly TV Music Charts published by The Hollywood Reporter and Billboard. Occupying five spots on Billboard’s January Top TV Songs chart, Gerry Rafferty’s ‘Right Down the Line’ took No. 1 after season 2 premiered on January 9th. Rafferty’s hit from 1978 was streamed more than 9 million times after its placement in Euphoria. Other nods went to ‘Haunted’ by Laura Les (Tunefind Top TV Song from January 26th), ‘Never Tear Us Apart’ by INXS, and ‘Dead of Night’ by Orville Peck (Tunefind Top TV Song from January 19th). On Billboard’s February Top TV Song chart, spot No. 2 was held by ‘Drink Before the War’ by Sinead O’Connor (Tunefind Top TV Song from February 9th). Other songs to chart in February include, ‘Quiet, the Winter Harbor’ by Mazzy Star (Tunefind Top TV Song from February 22nd) and two original songs from series composer Labrinth.

The Euphoria soundscape is balanced between Malone’s music supervision and original music by the show’s composer, Labrinth. Labrinth found great success with the season 1 score and intended to keep things fresh for season 2. Euphoria lead actress and season 2 executive producer, Zendaya told Billboard about working with Labrinth in his studio on the set lot, “He’s finding new sounds to complement every emotion that we go through in the show.” After collaborating with Zendaya during season 1 on the ‘All For Us Remix’ (Tunefind Top TV Song from August 11th), the two joined forces once again on ‘I’m Tired’ for season 2.

In an interview with IndieWire, Labrinth speaks about working towards a religious sound with show creator Sam Levinson. “‘All For Us’ kind of has both the choral sound and the Pentecostal Black church sound mixed together. But with this one [‘I’m Tired’], we’ve got the organs which is very much a Catholic sound. I wanted to use those as our tension-builder in this season, and I think [show creator] Sam [Levinson] enjoyed that.”

‘I’m Tired’ by Labrinth and Zendaya (Tunefind Top TV Song from March 9th) was featured multiple times in season 2, using a version with and without Zendaya’s vocals. The version of ‘I’m Tired’ by Labrinth took the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s February Top TV Songs chart.

On March 4th, a Euphoria season 2 soundtrack album was released. The album features the original songs by Labrinth as well as tracks created for the series and performed by Lana Del Ray, Tove Lo, Ericdoa, and Euphoria actor Dominic Fike.

The Euphoria season 2 score album, including additional tracks from series composer Labrinth, is set to release on April 22nd. HBO has renewed Euphoria for a third season, air date to be determined.

As always, Tunefind is tracking all the songs from Euphoria. Enjoy the fan favorite tracks from season 2 of Euphoria below.
