Winners of the 8th Annual Guild of Music Supervisors Awards

Insecure (Music Supervisor Kier Lehman), Call Me By Your Name (Music Supervisor Robin Urdang) and Apple were the big winners last night, with their music creative teams each taking home two awards at the 8th Annual Guild of Music Supervisors Awards at the Ace Hotel in downtown LA.

Top honors for big budget film went to the Pitch Perfect 3 (Music Supervisors Julianne Jordan and Julia Michels), while Lady Bird (Music Supervisors Brian Ross and Michael Hill) and Before I Fall (Music Supervisor Howard Parr) – a Tunefind fan favorite soundtrack last year – winning in the other film budget categories.

Netflix’s standout new series 13 Reasons Why (Music Supervisor Season Kent) claimed the top prize for television drama, while The Defiant Ones (Music Supervisor Deborah Mannis-Gardner) won for best music supervision in a docuseries. Sue Jacobs will need to make some room next to her Emmy for her work on Big Little Lies, which also won the Guild’s award for best music supervision in a limited series or television movie.

Awards attendees enjoyed performances by Spotlight Artist Yungblud and Siddhartha Khosla, Hannah Miller and Chris Pierce, who were nominated for their original song “We Can Always Come Back To This” from This Is Us.

Icon Award honoree and “Soundtrack King”  Kenny Loggins performed a medley of some of his biggest soundtrack hits, like “I’m Alright” from Caddyshack, “Danger Zone” from Top Gun, and, of course, “Footloose.”

The Guild of Music Supervisors also honored music supervisor Becky Mancuso-Winding with the Legacy Award for her her pioneering work as one of the industry’s first credited feature film music supervisors. Throughout her career she has curated the soundtracks to over 40 music-centric films, including Urban Cowboy and Footloose.
