Bridgerton, the hotly anticipated new period drama series from Shonda Rhimes – her first production for Netflix – arrived on Netflix on Christmas Day and nearly took over Tunefind’s entire trending music chart. At the top, a brand new song from a singer/songwriter’s new music project.
At the end of the sixth episode, the newly married Simon and Daphne are settling in at Cliveden, Simon’s ancestral home. Simon leads Daphne through the grand halls holding a lantern, and the two share an intimate moment.
Fortunately for viewers, the track featured in the steamy scene was released on December 25, 2020 – just in time for fans of the new series to enjoy in full. Following the featured placement in Bridgerton, ‘The End’ has been Shazamed over 100,000 times and streamed on Spotify over 200,000 times.
“‘The End’ is a song about a toxic relationship,” Jessica Vaughn (aka JPOLND) shared with Tunefind. “The idea is that if I’m going down…so are you. There is something intoxicating about love and lust being doomed.”
“When I found out about the placement I was so excited! I actually didn’t know much, because the show was pretty top secret when we received the quote,” Vaughn told Tunefind. “I had the scene description, so I always knew it was going to be steamy… I just didn’t know it’d be that steamy!”
“I wrote the song originally with one of my best friends Jeff Plate back when I was living in NJ and sent it over to Charlie Lowell (Jars of Clay) to produce,” Vaughn continued. “It truly was a team effort. Obviously obsessed with the show and hope for more soon!”
Jessica Vaughn was 18 years old when she first turned heads as Charlotte Sometimes. Around five years later, she competed on season 2 of The Voice. Next, she began performing alt pop under the alias LACES with placements including the CW’s Charmed. Vaughn continues to release new music under her main project, LACES. In addition, Vaughn performs and writes as her new side project JPOLND, channelling a dark pop vibe. Through her many music projects, she has also had songs placed on Selling Sunset and other popular TV shows.
Under her own name, Vaughn is the founder and leader of multi-service hive Head Bitch Music. Vaughn lives and works in L.A. and continues to pen songs for her many monikers as well as for other recording artists.
